So says training consultant Eleanor O'Kelly-lynch at the recent launch of the new Golden Apple Training website which specialises in sales and customer service training. Incredible as it sounds, most people - when asked during training where they have received consistently outstanding service - could not recall such an experience. Many could recount singular positive experiences where someone might have gone the extra mile and wowed them but almost three quarters just could not think of a company that delivers an excellent service consistently. Customer service, it seems, is hit and miss. We need to wake up here in Ireland.

A nationwide survey of Irish hotels has found that only 8% of those sampled offer languages other than English on their website. The survey, carried out by website translation specialists Cipherion Translations, highlights the need for Irish hotels to engage with non-English speaking customers in their own language to generate more business from abroad.
